PRESS RELEASE: Announcing the debut album from the Joshua Espinoza Trio, “Journey Into Night.” Haunting original compositions are interspersed with the trio’s unique interpretations of pop hits, inhabiting the undefined space between jazz and classical idioms. From moments of shimmering impressionism to virtuosic outbursts reminiscent of Chick Corea and Keith Jarrett, Espinoza and his band mates establish their footprint as a chamber ensemble as much as a jazz trio. Well-paced and highly melodic, “Journey Into Night” is a sophisticated statement from an exciting new trio.

A finalist in the 2018 Ellis Marsalis International Jazz Piano Competition, Espinoza has quickly established himself as a rising voice on the jazz scene, having performed with such luminaries as Warren Wolf, Miho Hazama, Todd Marcus, and Chuck Redd. Based in Baltimore, MD (USA), the Joshua Espinoza trio is made up of Espinoza on piano, Mikel Combs on bass, and Jaron Lamar Davis on drums. “Journey Into Night” will be available on all major platforms on June 14, 2019.
